Social networking is going to die. This article is about how it will happen.
The focus for this article will be business social networking. If you are worried about your Facebook friends and photos and the life sucking that goes on in personal social networks, don't worry, they will be around for awhile. They will be dying a totally different death. That will have to be a future blog posting. Ask me over a beer and I will explain it.

Transform your list to actionable targets with Market Mapper
As the leader in automating data research, we often encounter unique scenarios that could only be solved by creatively using our software. Broadlook was recently given a list of about 14,000 company names and websites. The purpose of this list was for us to target recruiting firms for our sales team. Typically, we will run these data sets through Profiler to get the contacts at these companies and begin marketing. In this case though, things would have to be different. As we started going through the list, our sales reps noticed that the majority of the records were not a fit for our target market.

We decided the best idea would be to segregate the data into two sets: recruiting firms and everything else. Here is how we accomplished that task.
Market Mapper is a tool we position as being used to find targeted lists of data. In our case, we already had the list built, but needed to target a section of this data. The first step was to get the 14,000 records into Market Mapper. By saving the data as a text file (csv), we can use the "New Text File" feature in Market Mapper to import our record set. Once we had the data imported, the next step was to create a list of keywords centered around recruiting. We came up with about 40 keywords that you can view on the video.
Once we had our keywords created and the list loaded into Market Mapper, we were ready to start the search. For each website, Market Mapper goes through the "Home" page and "About Us" page looking for any of the keywords we created. This process took our list of 14,000 records about 35 minutes to complete.
The results were amazing. We turned a large, unclassified data set into 4,800 targeted records. For our sales efforts, 9,000 records were excluded because the companies were not a fit. Obviously, the time savings for our team were immense. But this also saved our technology team time because we didn't have to profile the extra 9,000 records to find contacts.
This is one example of how Broadlook uses Market Mapper internally to overcome an obstacle we faced. Market Mapper is a great tool for building lists and segmenting data. Do you have data in your CRM that you would like to classify? Think about your possibilities!
Tips and Tricks
Leverage Your Intelligence
A key philosophy with Broadlook tools is to leverage automation and the intelligence that is gained in the process. When you profile a company, you don't just find contacts; Profiler can also help identify "About Us" information, events, keywords, back links and more. For those that are interested in data completeness, you can use intelligent auto-fill features as well.
